Marc Attal and his wife Nathalie Desprat have just opened “Mister Broc Quizz” a flea market on the system of consignment sale has Puy-L’Evêque in the Lot valley.
They are retired, the two children are grown up, and this consignment sale allows them to follow this common thread of the flea market which has followed them for a long time, Marc having the passion for decoration and antique furniture. Their store is located in the former premises of a locksmith, on the Duravel roadnear the workshops of the Community of Communes, at a place called “Croix Dominique”. They had opened their first premises in Parnac, but water infiltration forced them to move to Puy-L’Evêque. Very well located with parking at the entrance, this new premises suits them perfectly.
A surprising journey to the Lot
Marc Attal’s nickname, “Mister Quiz Broc”, comes from an old summer activity in restaurants, where he livened up the evenings with quiz games.
An eclectic career path to say the least: holder of a CAPES which allowed him to be a history teacher for around ten years, he then worked as a technical salesman in a furniture store for 25 years. She, Nathalie Desprat, was a manager at the SDIS of Seine-et-Marne, responsible for human resources in a team. Lotoise born in Cahors, she is originally from Albas, and both now live in Camy, near Luzech since 2020.
On the principle of deposit-sale
The principle of consignment allows people who wish to get rid of objects to entrust them to Mister Quizz Broc for a period of three months, after having determined together their value at the best price and the relevance of the sale (this one moves to find out if the items are salable). All this in a contract which binds the two parties, and which fixes the distribution of the sale: two thirds for the seller, one third for the second-hand dealer. If the item is not sold at the end of this period, we discuss again: either we revise the price downwards, or it returns to the owner.
Ali Baba’s cave
For the moment, 120 depositors have placed their trust in Marc Attal. The objects on deposit can be furniture, paintings, crockery, glasses, lighting, porcelain, and other objects as diverse as they are varied. Bargain hunters will not be in trouble in this Ali Baba’s cave-kingdom, but of quality!
This activity allows this passionate couple to keep in touch with people, to see beautiful things, and to provide a real service to people (sometimes elderly) who empty their house to sell it, while spending the time a retirement, certainly well deserved, but useful and in an environment that they have always loved.
Marc has also participated in numerous television game shows: The 1,000 Euro Game, Questions for a Champion, Everyone Wants to Take Their Place, etc. He is even waiting to appear in Affaire concluded on France 2.
