“If it falls in 5 minutes, I'll be a little angry”: Laurent Delahousse lets loose live on 2 during the handover to Julien Arnaud for the result of the American presidential election

This Tuesday evening, Laurent Delahousse took to the air a little before midnight to follow the course of the presidential elections in the United States, during a special edition called “American Night”. According to figures from Médiamétrie, until 3 a.m., 201.000 viewers were kept in suspense by this special edition co-broadcast on Franceinfo, i.e. 7,3% individuals aged four and over. But, unlike French elections, the results of the vote fall slowly, sometimes taking several days before being made official. This morning around 6:30 a.m., live from New York, the 2 presenter was to hand over to Julien Arnaud, who was then to present “Télématin” on the same set, exceptionally also in duplex from the American city. And this, without being able to announce the final result.

“If it lasts three days, until Saturday morning, I’m in , everything is fine”

“Thank you very much Laurent…“, launched Julien Arnaud. “There is still no president, there are still candidates, and things could change in the next few minutes“, then continued Laurent Delahousse, who obviously did not want to leave. “If it falls in 5 minutes, I'm a little angry… After 6:30, I'm a little angry. But otherwise, if it lasts three days, until Saturday morning, I'm in Paris, everything is fine“, he admitted with a smile. “It's going to be in 'Télématin', I'm telling you.”added Julien Arnaud. “Thank you all and well, not right away right away“, added Laurent Delahousse, before finally giving way to his colleague. Puremédias invites you to watch the sequence in the video above.

The first results actually fell in “Télématin” since, around 8 a.m., the ultra conservative channel Fox News, followed by CNN, announced the victory of the controversial Republican candidate Donald Trump against the Democrat Kamala Harris in the state of Pennsylvania, before confirmation from the American news agency the Associated Press about twenty minutes later. Now, around noon, as we write these lines, Donald Trump has 277 electors, officially becoming the 47th president of the United States.
