Rihanna can’t vote in the US elections and she prefers to have fun

Rihanna joked that she was going to vote with her son’s passport, because she’s not allowed to do so.

The Barbados-born singer is not a US citizen and therefore cannot vote in the November 5 election. However, she is encouraging others to vote and has taken to social media to make her position clear.

“POV: Trying to sneak into polling stations with my son’s passport,” she captioned a video of her looking out of a car window. In a hashtag, she clarified: “vote because I can’t”.

She added in the caption: “When protecting women and firing cowards can be done in one vote,” reiterating in the hashtag that we must vote for those who cannot and having fun in another than It’s “dress season,” referring to politicians’ outfits.

Rihanna, 36, is the mother of two sons, RZA, two, and Riot Rose, 14 months, whom she shares with her partner A$AP Rocky. Both boys are American citizens and will therefore be able to vote in the United States as adults.

Rihanna was born in Barbados and, although she moved to the United States in 2005, never took American citizenship.

During the 2018 midterm election, the Fenty Beauty founder also encouraged people to vote, writing, “If you are tired of complaining about the state of the country and the government, stand up and do something!!!! #VOTE…simple!!! You have no excuse, and if you live in one of these states, it’s not too late to sign up today! Come on, let’s go!!!!”

When a fan asked if she was “an American citizen,” Rihanna replied, “Nah, I’m an immigrant trying to bring her country together. Did you vote?”
