We are pleased to welcome Rémy Mallet, journalist and founder of Dakartnews, a platform dedicated to promoting visual arts in Africa. Mr. Mallet is also the curator of the exhibition “Symbols of Life: Beyond the Regard” which is an invitation to contemplate and engage with works which, by their very nature, encourage us to introspection and to appreciate life and its many facets more deeply.
An exhibition in partnership with the international arts NGO, Caravan Arts, which will take place as part of the OFF of the biennial with the opening scheduled for this Saturday, November 9 at the Djoloff hotel in Dakar. The exhibition will highlight the works of Malian artist Tidiane Ndongo as well as young Senegalese painter Djibril Coulibaly.
Rémy Mallet explains to us how the idea of Dakartnews (Experience Contemporary African Art Straight from Dakar) was born and what role does this platform play today in promoting African visual arts, etc.
In the second part, we welcome the two artists (Tidiane Ndongo, bogolan artist, from Siby, near Bamako, in Mali and Djibril Coulibaly, Senegalese painter born in Dakar in 1996, in the artistic district of the Medina) who will take takes part in the exhibition Symbols of Life beyond the gaze, at the Djoloff hotel in Dakar from November 7 to December 7 with an opening planned for Saturday, November 9 on the occasion of Dak’art → Home – BIENNALE DE CONTEMPORARY AFRICAN ART.
