Geneva comics artist Daniel Ceppi has died at the age of 73 – rts.ch

Genevan comic strip author Daniel Ceppi died Monday, November 4, at the age of 73, Editions du Lombard announced on Tuesday. The designer, who notably created the character of Stéphane Clément, an imaginary twin, was taken away by illness.

The character of Stéphane Clément experiences his first adventures in “Le gêpier”, an album which was released in 1977. Like his comic book hero, Daniel Ceppi had a pronounced taste for travel. When he was young, he traveled to India by bus, crossing many countries, including Afghanistan, where he ended up settling permanently.

Born in Carouge (GE) in 1951, Daniel Ceppi reinvented the comic book adventure story at the end of the 1970s, according to Editions du Lombard. His character Stéphane Clément is, in fact, nothing like a superman, even less like a righter of wrongs.

Member of the prestigious magazine (To Follow)

The uniqueness of the Genevan cartoonist’s point of view led him to join, in 1981, the prestigious magazine (A Suivre), which participated, at the time, in the revival of Franco-Belgian comics.

In addition to the Stéphane Clément series, Daniel Ceppi has also produced or participated in around fifteen other comic book albums, notably “L’ombre de Jaïpur”, published by Dargaud in 1981, and “La nuit des clandestins”, to the Humanoids associated in 1992.
