Since the initial butcher shop created by Anna and Ange Jumel in Néant-sur-Yvel near Ploërmel (Morbihan), successive transformations have made this Ajoncs d’or restaurant a unmissable place.
At the end of the war, my grandparents Anna and Ange Jumel created a butcher’s shop in Néant from a stable. There are still symbolic tool shapes above one of the windows.
“They already did catering work on special occasions. Then it was my parents Anne-Marie and Michel Jumel who created, in the early 1960s, the Ajoncs d’Or restaurant, which always had a butchery section.
41 years of work in Néant-sur-Yvel
With Philippe Louapre her husband, Guylaine took over the restaurant on February 1, 1984: “We then opened a page in our life, with the desire to participate in the life of the community and to support families in the highlights of their lives: weddings, baptisms, communions, family meals. By the time they retire, they are almost 41 years dedicated to serving residents“. Just one more page, one big chapter!
The couple never wanted to make any difference: “All customers are important”. So many memories made.
We have also received celebrities, such as Raymond Poulidor or more recently Karine Le Marchand, but also many others, who have filled our memory with moments shared with pleasure
A new chapter to write
“After all these years, we will now take time for ourselves, for our children Solenn and Simon, and our grandchildren Lucas, Lou, Elyo, Mahé and Liam. We would like to be able to make up for the time that we were not able to devote to them during these years of activity.” Not to mention the role of mayor of Néant-sur-Yvel that Philippe Louapre assumes.
After a few days needed to get organized, it’s Bénédicte Collat which will welcome customers from Friday November 8. “I was born in Paris, but my family is from Néant-sur-Yvel” confides the new owner. “In 2022 I wanted to leave the capital and return to Brittany. After a time at PaimpontI decided in June to buy the Gorse Gold that I already knew.
Continuity
“With the cook Guénaël (present for 13 years) and Christelle at the service (since 14 years), we are going to offer the same type of restoration to begin with. Some changes will be made for next spring,” explains Bénédicte Collat.
At 31 years old and with 13 years of experience in restaurant service, the young woman will bring her ideas, innovations and activities to continue to keep the bar and restaurant alive. If the hours change a little, the hotel will not be reopened until 2025.
