Queen Camilla suffers from lung infection, ‘short period of rest’ required

A new blow for the British royal family. Queen Camilla, wife of King Charles III, has contracted a lung infection, several British media reported this Tuesday including Sky News, citing Buckingham Palace.

“Her Majesty the Queen is currently ill due to a lung infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest,” said a royal spokesperson, according to Reuters. No other details regarding this illness have yet been communicated.

A recovery hoped for this weekend

According to the BBC, Camilla must therefore cancel several obligations planned for this week. For example, she will not attend the reception for British Olympic and Paralympic athletes at Buckingham Palace which is to be held this Thursday evening. Royalty says the Queen hopes to “recover in time” to attend events planned this weekend. She must participate in celebrations in memory of soldiers who died during the First World War.

Camilla and Charles III, who suffers from a form of cancer, recently returned from a royal tour of Australia and Samoa which took place in mid-October. The king announced after this trip that he would resume traveling abroad at a “normal” pace.

Princess Kate also revealed last March that she had cancer. She announced on September 9 that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment. She finally resumed her activities shortly after, in mid-September.
