A year after the opening of a restaurant of the same brand in Mondeville (Calvados), another manager installs The Malt Counter has Saint-Contestin the Super U supermarket area, very close to Caen. L’opening is programmed for this Thursday November 7 2024. This is the brand’s 25th franchise in France. It was created by the Nayet family around twenty years ago, in Amiens.

Le Comptoir du Malt offers brewed cuisine (beer-based), inspired by the northern territories: carbonade, welsch,flammekueche, etc. The menu also includes grilled meats, fish, pizzas, wraps, burgers and a wide choice of desserts.
For his boss Syril Mignot, it is the second establishment. It opened the first in January 2022, in Avranches (Manche). He had been an independent restaurateur for fifteen years before joining the brand:

The Comptoir du Malt succeeds the Atelier Gourmand, opened between two confinements in 2020 by a couple of independent restaurateurs. It then took the place of Poivre Rouge, restaurant of the Mousquetaires group, which had served its grills for six years before being sold to La Boucherie. From the end of the 1980s to 2010, the site hosted the Bricomarché store, which increased from 1,200 m2 to 2,000 m2 in 2004.
Customers who used to frequent the Atelier Gourmand will find part of the team in the dining room. “Our restaurant manager Stan and part of the kitchen team continue the adventure with us. » For a month, the twenty-two employees trained in the specificities of the new brand.
