Let’s not kid ourselves: no one is in a state of relaxation right now. While Americans vote for candidates neck and neck, zenitude is not appropriate, especially if we follow the polls.

However, some may find comfort in knowing that depending on the outcome, we may have the answer to an eternal question: Can The Simpsons really predict the future (link in English)?

Indeed, the famous animated sitcom has also become famous for some of its premonitory episodes.

Some choose to believe that it is a power of “prediction” stranger than fiction.

Whether you buy into it or not, it’s hard to deny the precognitive powers of the series.

First there was the 1990 episode where the writers described people protesting the nudity of Michelangelo’s “David”. A scene that became true when a Florida school forced the resignation of its director following complaints regarding a course on the famous statue/

The 1994 episode “Lisa vs. Stacy from Malibu” seems to have predicted theBarbie hysteria linked to the release of film by Greta Gerwig not to mention theindictment of Donald Trump. In the 1996 issue titled “Homerpalooza” it was mentioned that the hip-hop group Cypress Hill would share the stage with the London Symphony Orchestra – which actually came to fruition this year.

Not to mention the 1998 prediction that Disney would buy 20th Century Fox…The list is still long.

But perhaps the most infamous case was the 2000 episode “Bart To The Future,” which considered Donald Trump’s presidential bid.

It is in this episode that we see Lisa play the role of president. In the Oval Office, she declared: “As you know, we inherited a tight budget from President Trump.”

The episode went viral when Kamala Harris became the first female vice president of the United States, as Lisa then wore a very familiar purple suit, pearl necklace and pearl earrings…

The same episode is making the rounds on the web again, because the prediction was confirmed by the announcement of Trump’s candidacy for the 2024 presidential election, the same year the Simpsons predicted it.

Fans are now choosing to believe that the episode’s soothsaying qualities, already established, mean that Kamala Harris will win the next election.

“We all know The Simpsons have this uncanny ability to predict the future,” one social media user wrote. In one episode, Lisa becomes president and wears mostly a purple suit and pearls, which resembles Kamala Harris’s outfit during her vice-presidential inauguration. Coincidence? I don’t think so”insists this Internet user.

We will soon know if the flair of Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, is confirmed.
