The idea is rather simple, we still had to find it: put the players in the shoes of candidates for a game show. Since 2019, more than sixty “Quiz Room” (including a large number of franchises) have opened in France and abroad (Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, etc.).
These game rooms, built like replicas of TV sets, immerse players who have to answer questions. Lights, desks, buzzers, virtual presenter, everything has been designed to make customers feel like they are live.
On October 3, a new franchisee opened its doors in La Rochelle, a few meters from Boulevard de Cognehors (1). Three months of work were necessary to transform the former real estate agency, just in time to take advantage of the winter season. A project led by Jimmy Pouplard, who has already had an establishment in Nantes for two years.
Strategy
The one in La Rochelle has two platforms, each of which can accommodate four to 18 people. “The sessions last about an hour. You have to answer around sixty questions using buzzers, but not only that, describes the director. You have to use strategies with jokers: you can block a player, steal points, etc. »
In line with other immersive games such as “laser games” and “escape games”, the offer is mainly aimed at families, groups of friends or even work teams. “The quizzes are adapted according to the players, particularly their age,” he adds. The questions were written by Ambre Larrazet, one of the authors of the authentic “Burger Quiz” show by Alain Chabat.
This Thursday evening, seven work colleagues play a close game. It’s the first time they test the concept, when a question about the series “Under the Sun” defeats several of them. “At the same time I don’t know this series at all! » writes one of them, “you are too young for that”, taunts his colleague. Shock of generations.
