Venom's hidden superpower? Its imperviousness to criticism. For its second weekend of operation in the United States, Venom : The Last Dance collected 26.1 million dollars (-48.8%; total: 90 million), achieving the lowest drop in the history of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, ahead of Venom (-56.4%), Madame Web (-61.4%), Venom : Let There Be Carnage (-64.7%) et Morbius (-73.8%). Total respect, because it is worthy of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (-47.6%)! Certainly, this will not make up for the initial drop – it took ten days for the film to match the start of Venom : Let There Be Carnage (90 million) -, but as the competition is absent subscribers because of the Halloween/presidential election combo, there is a real stake to play… The mark of 100 million dollars will therefore be largely exceeded, with a final score which will turn probably around $140 million. It’s less than the first two opuses – V1 : 213 millions / V2 : 213.6 million -, but it is new proof that there will always be an audience for fun and uninhibited blockbusters, regardless of the quality.
A l’international, Venom : The Last Dance enjoyed a second weekend at $68.4 million (total: $227 million), with many fans in China (70.6 million), Mexico (13.4 million) and the United Kingdom (11.9 million). Eddie Brock's global prize pool therefore amounts to $317.1 million, which means that Madame Web (100.5 millions), Morbius (167.5 millions), Joker: Folie à deux (201.6 millions), The Marvels (206.1 million) and The Flash (271.4 million) are already exceeded; while Black Widow (379.8 millions), Black Adam (393.5 million) and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (439.4 million) will be soon. Indeed, Kelly Marcel's symbiotic blockbuster is now aiming for the $500 million mark (V1 : 856.1 millions / V2 : 506.8 million). With a controlled budget of 120 million dollars and taking into account the ambient superhero fatigue, it's really a very nice score, even if it is worth remembering that Venom : Let There Be Carnage was not released in China. In short, Sony Pictures can begin to calmly consider Venom's new adventures, whether as a duo with Spider-Man or as a team with the Sinister Six…
Is this the effect of November 1st ahead of time? Still, it is difficult to get our hands on the exact figures of our dear symbiote. For its first day of operation in France, Venom : The Last Dance brought together 207,243 spectators, including 82,945 entries for the previews on Friday and Tuesday. So it’s… the best start in the history of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, ahead of Venom (190,054 entries, including 46,159 preview entries) and Venom : Let There Be Carnage (161,674 entries, including 76,160 preview entries)! Certainly, the many previews distort the situation and the calendar is more than favorable; but it was still necessary to attract such an audience, at a time when certain superheroic productions are facing a clear rejection. The objective is therefore clear for this third opus: to do better than the accumulation of Venom : Let There Be Carnage (1,630,899 entries) and approach Venom (2 284 848 entrées) !

We are Venom… but we are also one of the last countries to discover the film! At 2 p.m., in a very competitive market led by Juror #2 (2,739 entries) and Anora (2 355 entrées), Venom : The Last Dance brought together 1,184 spectators, a result which falls between Venom : Let There Be Carnage (830 entries) and Venom (2,126 entries), the symbiotic franchise can only rebound after the very weak Parisian start of the second opus. But for once, all this is not very significant, since the first day in France will be seriously boosted by the previews, organized Friday and Tuesday throughout the country. So see you tomorrow to find out if Venom (190,054 entries, including 46,159 preview entries) and Venom : Let There Be Carnage (161,674 entries, including 76,160 preview entries) will be matched!
