1980s, somewhere in the North of France. It’s high school time for Clotaire and Jackie. Except that, if the latter is diligent at school, it is rather the quays and docks which welcome Clotaire’s wanderings all day long and later.
But then, a look exchanged after class between the two young people and it was love at first sight. We find them again about ten years later, while Clotaire released from prison. He immediately goes to Jackie’s home.
The sky falls on his head when he learns that she has married. Will he forget her and thus draw a line under the crazy love that illuminated their youth? Nothing is less certain. Especially since the marriage in question is not really a success, except materially…
2h40 of love story
If it must be recognized that a duration of 2h40 for this love story through time is a challenge not entirely met by Gilles Lellouche, what should above all be highlighted is the distribution of this film. Sumptuous! To tell the truth, the actors hold this film on their broad, even if sometimes young, shoulders.
How not to highlight the nugget of this film, young Malik Frikah. He plays a 17-year-old Clotaire with all the arrogance, the repressed anxiety, the desire, the energy, the unconsciousness, the forbidden gluttony of a young man prey to his demons. A revelation for sure.
Shock duo
At her side, Mallory Wanecque slips into the jeans of a 15-year-old Jackie with an elegance, beauty and grace, without forgetting an incontestable authority, which twists, and we understand it, Clotaire’s distressed heart. A shock duo and a large part of the interest of this film.
The trailer for the film
But that’s not all, because we then find these characters in the guise of François Civil and Adèle Exarchopoulos. Sure values surround them: Alain Chabat, Benoit Poelvoorde, Vincent Lacoste, Jean-Paul Zadi, Elodie Bouchez, Karim Leklou, Raphaël Quenard, Anthony Bajon… Excuse me!
