Video journalist Nicole Lavergne Smith, who moderated the discussions, was accompanied by headliners from ICI Saskatchewan, Fred Harding and Zoé Clin, as well as directors Chantal Hamon and Gabrielle Lizée-Prynne, to answer questions from the community.

Subsequently, the stage was left to Michel Vallée, who came from Quebec to host a conference on cultural mediation, who creates meeting places through culture thanks to artists and people in the community, he explains.

Thanks to the artist and cultural mediation, they will find solutions so that people can simply stop, get to know themselves better and say to themselves: “we will continue to work and we will get there”summarizes the speaker.

He adds that cultural mediation offers a safe environment while taking people out of their comfort zone.

The concept seems to have found its audience since Michel Vallée indicated that after his conference, members of the community expressed their interest in collaborating with him to establish cultural mediation projects.

This interest is palpable among Myembo, a participant in the activity.

I would like to explore this aspect of cultural mediation in more detail, because it is an essential element. You know, we are in an environment with cultural diversity and it is important to know how to put these different cultures on the same page.he said.

At the start of the afternoon, Michel Vallée also led a workshop on the challenges that cultural mediation could address.

The importance of culture at school

In parallel with Michel Vallée’s workshop, another on the importance of bringing culture into the classroom also took place.

Martin Lépine, one of the facilitators of this workshop and professor of French teaching at the Faculty of Education of the University of Sherbrooke, explained to the members of his audience that they were all cultural couriers because they have the opportunity to share culture in their own way.

According to him, teachers have the greatest role to play as cultural transmitters. We must inject… our children and our adolescents with a taste for the arts and culture, particularly in French.he says.

[La culture]it’s the cement, it’s the binder, it’s what unites, it’s what weaves links between people.

Later in the evening, Fransaskois will be able to enjoy the banquet, followed by the Gala de la Fransasque, without forgetting the dance hosted by the Beauséjour group at the end of the day.

The Rendez-vous fransaskois will end on Sunday at 1 p.m.
