The restaurant The Evidence received at the end of September the Home Trophy 2024 in awarded by the famous French gastronomic guide, Gault & .

The establishment of Romilly-sur-Andelle (Your) is one of eleven French restaurants to have received this distinction each year.

The only restaurant in Eure awarded

Among the twelve trophy winners in Normandy, L’Évidence is the only restaurant in Eure to have received a distinction. And more particularly, it was Claire Antonini, 27, who won the 2025 reception prize for her work in the room.

Claire Antonini takes care of the restaurant room alone, which can accommodate a maximum of 38 people per service. “They were surprised by the number of cutlery sent but also by the quality of the service. And it’s true, Claire is smiling, dynamic, she has a good character, people adore her. This is what Gault & Millau has awarded: a dedicated room manager, who loves her work and her customers,” says Alexis Bennis, alongside the woman who became his wife a few days ago.

Two awards in the same year

Open since July 12, 2021, the couple manages the restaurant together. In three years of existence, L’Évidence has grown significantly since the owners have been rewarded twice, this year by Gault & Millau. In addition to Claire’s Home 2025 Trophy, Alexis Bennis, 31, chef of the restaurant, received a toque in June from the famous guide.

At Gault & Millau, a chef’s hat rewards the 2,500 establishments in . This rating highlights the excellence of a committed chef who has his own signature.

When her appointment was announced, the woman who has been involved in the restaurant business since she was 16 was more surprised than happy. “I was of course happy but very surprised. I said to myself why me? I was a little stressed because I wondered what would await us behind, what it would change,” confides the room manager. For the moment nothing has changed, the couple is continuing their momentum which is paying off.

The award-winning terroir

Usually given to large houses in large cities, the prize also rewards the terroir, the rural environment. Because obtaining this award is not subject to prior application. “We didn’t apply, it’s word of mouth,” explains Alexis Bennis.

They will learn it later but it was the president of the famous guide himself who came to L’Évidence, incognito at the end of August. “He observed Claire in the room. We didn’t expect it at all. It was a Friday evening, we came back from vacation and we had just reopened with a new menu,” says the chef.

And Claire added: “We were fully booked that day, it’s true that it was a good time to observe in the room. A few weeks later, we received an email informing us that the restaurant was one of the nominees for the Home Trophy. »

Invited to the Trianon in , Monday November 18 for a celebration with the chefs and award winners of France, the couple should be well received.
