Concern is growing around Philippe Bouvard. The former emblematic host of Big headswho will celebrate his 96th birthday on December 6, signed a worrying historic first in more than 70 years of career as revealed by VSD in its latest issue published on Thursday October 31, 2024.
Readers of the magazine were unable to find his column called “Bouvardages”. Instead, a text written by the editorial staff. “Our friend Philippe Bouvard, a little tired – he must celebrate his 96th birthday on December 6 – was not able to give us his column”we can read there. Our colleagues did not fail to report that it was a “first in more than 70 years of career”.
In order to compensate for this unexpected absence, VSD offered its readers a medley of the best texts written by the man who sold his 442m2 villa in Cannes. “It had to happen one day… To wait until his return, hopefully next month, some of his best states of mind”added the magazine with which he has collaborated since 2020.
Philippe Bouvard has declined since his departure from Big heads
A few months ago, Michel Drucker made revelations in C to you on the state of health of the host, whose presence has become rarer on the media scene in recent years. “I call him almost every two weeks. I speak very loudly because there are days when he can't hear well. And then, his visual acuity has changed significantly. He was 94 years old…“, he declared.
Philippe Bouvard, who has set himself the goal of retiring on January 1, 2025 – beating a “record mondial” of longevity in the media -, lost the presentation of Big heads for the benefit of Laurent Ruquier in 2014 on RTL. A few years later, he spoke to our colleagues at the Soir Mag newspaper about his daily life since leaving the station.
“I rarely leave the house. I spend half my day listening to the news, taking notes, and the other half reacting. My eyesight having failed, I have the newspapers read to me. The radio is constantly on and I never watch television. The hardest part is the weekends… My secretary isn't here and I'm bored…”had confessed the one who animated The Big Heads for forty years.
