Princess Louise of Belgium witnesses the love of the Dukes of Castro as a Halloween witch

This October 31, 2024, Princess Louise of Belgium was in to celebrate Halloween with her friends and cousins, Princesses Maria Carolina and Maria Chiara of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies. Prince Laurent’s daughter was also present as a symbolic witness to the love of the Duke and Duchess of Castro, who were celebrating their 26th wedding anniversary. Prince Laurent was one of the witnesses of this union in 1998.

Prince Charles and Princess Camilla’s 26th wedding anniversary celebrated with their best man’s daughter

On October 31, 1998, Prince Charles of Bourbon of the Two Sicilies, descendant of the kings of the Two Sicilies, married Camilla Crociani in Monaco. The newlyweds had as their witness Prince Albert himself, the future Monegasque sovereign who was still heir to the throne. Prince Albert was the instigator of their meeting. The second witness to the wedding was Prince Laurent of Belgium. At the time, Prince Laurent was the second son of King Albert, now the younger brother of King Philippe.

Twenty-six years later, Prince Charles and Princess Camilla, Duke and Duchess of Castro, are still buzzing just as much. On this wedding anniversary evening, the couple had invited friends, including Princess Louise of Belgium. Princess Louise is none other than the eldest daughter of Prince Laurent. Princess Camilla received a magnificent bouquet from her husband, to a piano tune played by Count Rodolphe de Hemricourt de Grunne.

Princess Louise transforms into a witch for this Halloween evening

Princess Louise is also a distant cousin of the royal family of the Two Sicilies and a friend of the Duke of Castro’s two daughters, Princesses Maria Carolina and Maria Chiara. Louise d’Orléans, wife of King Leopold I of Belgium, was the daughter of King Louis-Philippe I of the French and Queen Marie-Amélie, born Princess of the Two Sicilies. Queen Marie-Amélie’s father was King Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies, an ancestor of the Duke of Castro and his daughters.

Through Queen Elisabeth of Belgium, wife of King Albert I, the Belgian royal family also descends from King Charles III, another sovereign who reigned over the kingdoms of Naples and Sicily. Finally, Prince Laurent was designated as baptismal godfather of Princess Maria Carolina, his father’s dynastic heir.

The evening then took the turn of Halloween party on October 31st. The whole family was dressed in black and Princess Louise just had to wear a pointy hat to transform into a witch. Princess Louise is taking a little break from her studies during this autumn break. The niece of the Belgian king is in her third year of studies at the University of Maastricht, in the Netherlands, where she studies liberal arts.
