When getting off at the Sainte-Catherine stop in Bordeaux, eyes are drawn to this new storefront. We can read “Dolce di tiramisu » on the window. Since September 28, 2024, the business has been selling the famous Italian dessert in several flavors.
Dolce di tiramisu, it’s a story family. The co-managers, William and Alex Tutal-Ullien; are two brothers who embarked on an adventure: selling only tiramisus to take away, prepared every evening on site.
Two brothers at the helm
A pastry chef in Paris for around ten years, William wanted to create his own business. And during a trip to Italy, Alex came across a store that sold only tiramisus.
He then suggested to his brother that he import the concept: “It’s my favorite dessert”, confides Alex. Originally from Gironde, it was “important” to them to settle in the “beautiful city of Bordeaux”.
Thanks to this store, “people can go out for a walk instead of having dessert at a restaurant,” explains Alex. With “a tiramisu to go, they can go and explore the center or the quays of Bordeaux.”
Individual and customizable desserts
At Dolce di tiramisu, you can taste the classic, pistachio, strawberry, speculoos, salted butter caramel or even nutella. And the desserts are customizable, individual tiramisus to compose with toppings. The chef plans to soon offer a flavor of the month.
Individual shares are sold at 4.5 euros. “We wanted a consistent and accessible price to be able to reach as many people as possible, even if the raw materials are expensive,” explains William. For desserts of 3/4 portions, count on 17 euros. Tiramisus for 5/6 or 8/10 portions are made to order. To prolong the immersion, William and Alex also sell Italian drinks.
For the moment, the pastry shop is open every day from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Schedules intended to evolve depending on the reality of attendance. The tiramisus are mainly take-out, although a few tables should appear in the near future.
“Customers ask to be able to take the time to consume on site”, Alex points out. The two brothers do not hesitate to take feedback into account in order to evolve.
A great start
In two weeks of opening, business is already doing well. ” Better ! » same as the forecasts. “We only have good feedback. People like it, come back, talk about it around them…” smiles William. And for now, it’s the pistachio that’s winning.
And when we know the success of single-product businesses in the Gironde capital – like cannelés, cookies or pasteis de nata – we would not be surprised to see Dolce di tiramisu carve out a beautiful place in our culinary landscape. Buon appetito!
