“Playing Alexia Laroche-Joubert was a real responsibility”

Match. You were only four years old at the time of the broadcast of « Loft Story »certainly a little young to be glued to the . So what does this show mean to you?
Anaïde Rozam. I still think I have memories of the “Loft”, a bit like a background noise, an atmosphere from childhood. But it’s true, until some time ago, I didn’t even know who Alexia Laroche-Joubert was. As for Loana, I vaguely knew that she had made her mark on television, but I couldn’t say in which show she had participated. In fact, I knew the scale of the “Loft” without knowing what it was. However, as soon as I received the script, I was immediately on board.

Before starring in this series, how did you view reality TV?
I never watched any reality TV shows, apart from “Secret Story” one summer, to do like my friends. By playing in this series, I was able to form an opinion. Reality TV has obviously changed a lot over time. The “Loft” was new and authentic: the casting brought together different profiles from different backgrounds. So today, reality TV candidate, it has become a profession. There is no more originality. I watched a few episodes of “Loft” before filming started, and I was struck by the conversations between candidates: they talked about life, interesting things, sometimes even philosophy. Above all, they were unaware of what we now call the “buzz”.

“Thanks to this role, I am now more determined”

You play Isabelle de Rochechouart, a character largely inspired by Alexia Laroche-Joubert, who is also the producer of “Cult”… That must have added extra pressure?
There is always a real responsibility, towards the spectators, to embody someone who exists or has existed. But I loved the challenge. I didn’t want to fall into the stupid imitation. However, I listened to hours of interviews with Alexia, to work on intonations. I did a lot of sport, not to have his body shape, but to get closer to his straight and firm gait.

Did she give you any special advice before you performed it?
I met Alexia before filming, but at no point did she try to influence my acting. She really trusted me, as much as she trusted the writers. She certainly had a say in the casting and the script, but she never tried to smooth out her character.

How are you like Alexia Laroche-Joubert?
Usually, I’m always scared before going for a casting. There, for the first time, I went there telling myself that this role was for me. Besides, at the end, I said to the director: “well, see you on set”. I dared, like Alexia in the end. It must be said that before this first casting, I went to the hairdresser, and I decided to cut my hair and blow-dry it, to immediately give the illusion. I really think that the determination of my character in “Cult” gave me new keys in life. I am more sure of myself.

“My uncle, Roschdy Zem, insisted that I build my career solely on my own”

In the early 2000s, we became famous by participating in reality TV. Today, we build our notoriety on Instagram, which was the case with you. Did you dream of becoming a star by any means possible?
Small, perhaps. But growing up, I especially wanted to act, to interpret characters. I always did this in my bedroom – because I was quite a loner – and that’s where my Instagram videos came from.

Where did this desire for comedy come from?
My mother looked at me a lot. Already, because I was her only daughter, but I think she was always a fan, and therefore she gave me self-confidence. However, she is not in this environment at all, she is a chief accountant.

“I have always had a real desire for cinema”

On the other hand, his brother, your uncle, is the actor Roschdy Zem. You couldn’t ask for a better guide in the business…
I always admired my uncle, but he always insisted that I build my career solely on my own. He kept telling me: “If you succeed thanks to me, it won’t be fun; and if you don’t succeed, it will be because of me. » So, when I was younger, I found it a little frustrating, but today, I can only thank him for not helping me get started. I am so proud to have made myself known through my videos, which I wrote alone. At first, I did it for fun. Then when I saw that it was starting to work, I used this Instagram account as a showcase, a demo reel.

Because your only goal was to become an actress?
On Instagram, there are those who do humor for fun, others to go on stage – which is not my case – and others to be an influencer, which is not either no longer my case. I had a real desire for comedy, for cinema. If I hadn’t been an actress, maybe I would have been a psychologist, because I had started studying in that direction. I would also like to be a director one day.
