Lavelanet. Screening of the masterpiece “The Hunt” by Carlos Saura

As part of the closing of the Cinespaña Festival, the Le Casino de Lavelanet cinema is pleased to announce the exceptional screening of the film “The Hunt” (La Caza) by Carlos Saura, today at 5:30 p.m. This unmissable film of the Spanish cinema will be screened in partnership with APFERA (Association of parents of Spanish families resident in Ariège), and will be followed by a moment of discussion with the public.

Made in 1966, “The Hunt” is a masterpiece by Carlos Saura, considered one of Spain’s most influential directors. The film, which explores human psychology in the oppressive setting of a hunt between former Franco soldiers, is a veiled criticism of Franco society and remains very modern. Saura, through a unique cinematographic language, depicts the social and intimate tensions in a Spain marked by the civil war.

The screening is part of an approach to promote Spanish cinema, and dialogue around the significant works that have shaped Iberian history and culture. This special moment will allow the public to discuss the themes of the film, but also to discover the importance of Spanish collective memory, particularly for families living in Ariège. A time of discussion will be hosted by APFERA, an association committed to promoting Spanish culture and heritage among expatriate families.

The Cinespaña Festival celebrates the richness and diversity of Spanish cinema each year, through a varied program of recent and classic films. This festival, which takes place in different cities, aims to promote cultural dialogue and highlight the great Spanish directors.
