SM Entertainment announced the end of Taeil’s contract.
Recently, SM Entertainment suddenly announced Taeil’s departure from NCT due to accusations against him regarding a sex crime case.
Taeil leaves NCT as he is accused of being linked to a sex crime case
Following this radical announcement from SM Entertainment, the other members of NCT unfollowed Taeil, and it was announced by the police that the victim in the case was not “neither a boy nor a minor”.
On August 29, the police station clarified that the investigation concerning Taeil had been opened last June following the filing of a complaint by the victim, an adult woman, for a sexual assault.

On October 7, SM Entertainment then released a brief statement regarding a new article regarding the ongoing investigation into Taeil regarding suspected sexual assault.
The Chosun Ilbo media outlet reported that Taeil was under investigation because he and two of his acquaintances are suspected of having abused a drunk woman. According to the report, after Taeil was investigated by the Bangbae Police Station in Seoul, his case was transferred to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office on September 12.

On October 16, SM Entertainment then announced that Taeil’s contract with the agency had been terminated. So Taeil is no longer an SM artist from now on.
Via a press release, the agency declared:
« Ici SM Entertainment.
We would like to inform you that our exclusivity contract with Taeil has been terminated as of October 15, 2024.
Taeil is currently under investigation by prosecutors for a criminal case. This not only constitutes grounds for termination of our contract, but also makes it impossible to maintain trust in him as an artist. As a result, both parties mutually agreed to terminate the contract.
We once again sincerely apologize for any concern caused by Taeil, who was previously one of our artists. »
