“Bambi, the story of a life in the woods”: learning story

We think of Disney of course. But the film is above all a new adaptation of an Austrian children’s novel published in 1923, from which the 1942 animated classic was already based. And here, we are in live action. Clearly, these are real animals which bring to life the simple story of this young fawn snorting in the forest, brooded by its mother, dogged by a crow, frightened by a bird of prey, intrigued by a company of wild boars, amused by a mischievous rabbit… He learns about adventure and confronts imprudence (humans are almost always off-screen).

Our opinion: 3/5

Over the course of a year in the woods, we are in a pure learning story, punctuated by life experiences and by a gunshot that will change the course of things (you know what we’re talking about…) . It must be seen as a tale, intended for very young people, with a voice-over that is quite redundant with the image… except that this voice is that of Mylène Farmer, guaranteed without counterfeiting. And the production promises: “ No animals were mistreated during filming “. Even Bambi’s mother!
