Figeac. Several meetings around mushrooms

For the eleventh consecutive year, at the initiative of Florence Farrugia and Anne-Marie Delous, the Poste pharmacy will host an exhibition of mushrooms picked the day before in the Viazac undergrowth on Saturday October 26 on its sidewalk, boulevard Juskiewenski. With the presence of the famous mycologist Daniel Lacombe, author of the “Ecological Guide to Mushrooms in Périgord and Quercy”. In fact the day before, Friday 25 at 9:30 a.m. from the Passerelle car park, the pharmacy organizes an outing to this town, for a pick-up in the morning, followed by a picnic taken from the bag, before identification on site of all the mushrooms harvested.

Saturday afternoon, from 3 p.m., still departing from the footbridge car park, and organized by the La Fabrique des Savoirs association, a second outing will take place towards Saint-Perdoux, with collection and identification on site.

Present in Cambes since Thursday, Daniel Lacombe will be happy to participate in the various pickings, as he explains: “I am a teacher, a history and geography professor, and I like to explain to people. During the outings, we gives a lot of advice, because let’s not forget, mushrooms can also be a toxic product. Moreover, if people have picked mushrooms the day before that they doubt, they should not hesitate to bring them to Figeac. , to show them to us. It’s free.

It was in 2011 that he met Florence Faruggia, while picking around Alvignac. A connection passes between them, and little by little the idea of organizing a collection, followed by an exhibition, on a Saturday morning market day, on the sidewalk of the pharmacy. “Since I was little, I have had a passion for mushrooms. As a child, I met a couple who taught me a lot, before joining a mycology association. Now, if I am a mycologist, I am above all an educator: I explain the mushroom, its colors, its smells… Because in addition to the taste, it is a mysterious product. It requires water, heat, but we are in the middle of a mystery. We can’t control anything, and that. ‘is very good that way.’
