What do we do now? – Professional retraining!

The new feature film by actor Lucien Jean-Baptiste tells how an executive of a certain age tries to rebuild his professional life by surrounding himself with other people in difficulty.

Alain Morin is a fighter, this 59-year-old salesman never thought he would one day find himself unemployed. Dropped overnight by the Rochetot family business, for which he worked for more than twenty years, the businessman does not admit defeat. Thinking that he has found the solution to his problems by setting out on his own with a convincing idea, the seller of electric gates begins to surround himself with influential figures to implement his project. More temperamental than expected, will his new associates be reliable enough to see this affair through to the end?

The main characters in the story all have a series of personal issues to deal with. The idea of association allowing them to lighten a very dark daily life. The director, Lucien Jean-Baptiste, made a very good choice by putting Gérard Darmon and Isabelle Nanty at his side to form a shock trio. Gérard Darmon excels as much in comedy as in drama while not being afraid of self-deprecation, his role as a fallen host suits him perfectly. Isabelle Nanty plays Véronique, the queen of pragmatic logistics. She gives the film a little maternal sweetness and a lot of character while remaining friendly and determined.

Filmed a bit like a play, but with lots of outdoor scenes, this bittersweet creation is pleasant to follow, because it has all the ingredients necessary for a good production of the genre.

What do we do now? was filmed in the region, mainly in Vendée. The film was born the day TF1 Studio asked Lucien Jean-Baptiste to adapt Grandparents by Santiago Requejo, a social comedy about the misadventures of three somewhat “has-been” seniors who, after dreaming of setting up a daycare center to get back into business, find themselves at the head of a coworking center for the elderly.

Critical of today’s world, particularly from a professional point of view, this feature film shows us that we have all gone through complicated periods one day or another. The important thing is to get back up and persevere.

For the Original Soundtrack, the director wanted fairly dynamic music, with a mix of genres. We find Garou’s hit there: That love is violenta remix of Mambo Number Fivethe melody Mr Morin by Joseph Lacides and even the credits of the show Champs-Elysées.
