Zaine met K.O Olympic Story

Preparatory to the next Prix Magalen Bryant (Gr.II, ex Prix Bournosienne), this Prix Magne (Gr.III) offered us a rematch between Olympic Story and Zaine. Undefeated before the start, the resident of François Nicolle had just dominated the representative of the Papot Family, who discovered Auteuil after two first outings near Clairefontaine. The latter had made a remarkable end to the race only to fail by a neck. Sunday in Auteuil, Zaine this time made short work ofOlympic Storynine lengths separating them at the finish. After a smooth ride, the two fillies crossed the final hurdle at the same height, at which point Dominique Bressou’s resident took off to achieve a very easy success. Behind the two favorites, it was Lafayette who completed the podium, having just won at Group I level against Merano. Zaine should be the big favorite of Group II scheduled for November 16. “Zaine was very perfectible in the last place, declared Xavier Papot, its owner. We took the temperature at Auteuil and at this level last, since it arrived from Clairefontaine. It was ambitious on our part and the filly finished very quickly. However, we should not underestimate Olympic Storywhich may not have provided its best value. We won a battle, but not the war. It is impressive, but I remain cautious about today’s result…” Zaine is a student of the Gabeur family, who notably bred great champions who wore the Papot helmet, like the winners of Grand Steeple Bel la Vie or On the Go. There is still a long way to go to do so well, but the filly seems to have everything going for her: “I thank the Gabeur family again for selling it to us. Zaine has a very beautiful model, it really stands out from the ordinary.”

For his part, François Nicolle made no excuses for the result: “We mounted Olympic Story a little differently today so that she doesn’t consume too much. Angelo Zuliani put together a magnificent race. There is nothing to say, we are beaten by a filly who dropped us off at the end and who seems much better to me. There was no match and it’s not the 3 kilos that will change much. We will see for the rest, nothing has been decided.”
