A piano maker based in Rochefort (Charente-Maritime) unearthed on Le Bon Coina piano of the brand Steinway&sons dating from the 1940s revealed France 3.

This piano was used in particular during the Second World War by soldiers of the American army for entertainment between combat phases.

This model, called the « Victory Special » had been designed specifically for the US military and was only produced 2,400 copies. The seller of this piano was in Italy and sold the item for €2,500. A very low price according to the Charente buyer who has since been working on the restoration of this musical and historical treasure.

Make the object operational so that it can be used again

The goal of the piano maker is now to restore this object, more than 80 years old, in order to make it operational again and that the latter can be used during historical reenactments and so that musicians can play on it again.

The objective is to preserve the original parts as much as possible so as not to distort the sound of this excellent piano.
