A trip to the heart of the world for the price of a cinema ticket

Get a plane ticket for the price of a movie ticket? It’s possible with Altaïr Conferences, which offers film conferences, at the CGR in Moulins, from Thursday October 17 and once a month until April 2025.

Altaïr conferences took over from Connaissances du monde to offer film conferences at the CGR cinema in Moulins.
These meetings will take place in the presence of the directors of each film, each time shot in Europe or on the other side of the world. “The formula is different from what Connaissance du monde did,” explains Philippe Dumesnildot, local correspondent, with his wife Marie-Claire, of Altaïr Conferences.

There is no longer a subscription, two sessions are organized on a single day. The first sessions last year brought together an average of around a hundred people. Travelers all spend several weeks, even long months, in a country, meeting the locals, and sometimes bringing back specialties to discover.

Altaïr Conferences, which has existed for five years and organizes nearly a thousand performances per year in numerous structures (cinemas, media libraries, associations, theaters, penitentiary establishments, schools, senior residences, etc.), specifies that these travelers are either authors experienced independents or young talents.
Beyond the films, which are not formatted for TV, discussions on the trip are offered, during a debate which allows us to break down certain preconceived ideas and to discuss.
