Vietnam seeks cinema development opportunities during BIFF

The Vietnam Film Promotion and Development Association (VFDA), in collaboration with relevant agencies, inaugurated the Vietnam – Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) booth at the Asian Content and Film Market (ACFM) in Busan, Republic of Korea, on October 5, as part of the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF-29).

Seoul (VNA) – The Vietnam Film Promotion and Development Association (VFDA), together with relevant agencies, inaugurated the Vietnam – Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) booth at the Asian Content Market and of Film (ACFM) in Busan, Republic of Korea, on October 5, as part of the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF-29).

The inauguration of the stand aims to highlight the magnificent landscapes of Vietnamese localities such as Ninh Binh, Phu Yen, Quang Ninh and Da Nang, helping to promote and attract international investors through BIFF. The stand is open until October 8.

Previously, at the opening reception of the Busan Film Festival, VFDA President Ngo Phuong Lan took the stage to introduce the development of the Vietnamese film industry as well as DANAFF. She expressed her admiration for the constant efforts of the Busan Festival organizers, who have helped make South Korean cinema one of the most developed Asian film industries in the world.

In addition, the Vietnamese delegation led by Ngo Phuong Lan, and Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Vu Ho, had a meeting with Busan Mayor Park Heong Joon to exchange experiences on seeking development opportunities for the Vietnamese film industry.

The latter expressed hope that the VFDA would play a bridging role between the Republic of Korea and Vietnam to promote cooperation in film production, cinematic and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

BIFF 2024 takes place from October 2 to 11 in the city of Busan. This edition features 224 films from 63 countries and regions, an increase of approximately 8% from last year’s 209 films. -VNA
