Invited at 4:30 p.m. on the set of our colleagues from Equidia, the jockey of one of the Qatar favorites Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe 2024, author of a two-win at the closing thanks to Newlook (under the leadership… of Carlos & Yann Lerner) supported his remarks at the microphone of Vincent Lahalle and Thierry Thulliez. “We respect all our opponents, because no one runs the Arc to make up the numbers, attacks the pilot with more than a thousand laurels. Everyone around them prepared their horses rigorously, which is our case. For his return, the foal needed more than we imagined. We tried to remedy all that and the horse seems perfect this time.”

Asked about the stall number of the resident of Carlos & Yann Lerner, under the Al Shaqab flag since this summer, Ronan Thomas answers: “We drew 8 and knowing that there are 16 starters, it’s a good number. We could have had Alexis’s (Pouchin)the 16th (with Mqse de Sévigné)which is not prohibitive but which complicates the strategy and offers fewer options. The ace is not the best of the numbers either and the 8 leaves us a lot of room inside and we are therefore satisfied with this draw. Vega’s look is quite easy, a little lymphatic in the morning which perhaps explains why we sinned, out of pride, when entering the preparatory course. For us the objective is to win the Arc, and not the Niel. We beat Sauce in the Prix du Jockey Club, he beat us in the Prix Niel, draw and ball in the middle. But it’s not just Sauce. I have a lot of respect for Shin Emperor et Bluestockingwho drew a beautiful straight line to beat Adventure in the Prix Vermeille. She’s definitely a great mare.”
