The ASPIBD continues its duty of memory, between guided tours and exhibitions. The museum recently received a group of Lozériens.

Although they have taken a step back, René Tomczak and André Marty still welcome and guide groups of visitors to the mining and industrial heritage museum of the ASPIBD (Association for the Protection of the Mining and Industrial Heritage of the Decazeville-Aubin Basin ).

Recently, a large group (45 people) from Florac, Lozère, immersed themselves in the glorious past of the Basin, at a time when cast iron and steel were poured in abundance and coal was torn from the bowels. of the earth by thousands of tons. These visitors made the detour to the Decazeville museum through the Aînés de St-Roch association.

Even though opening hours have logically decreased since the end of summer, the ASPIBD museum still welcomes groups.

Next visits: a group of cyclists from (Deux-Sèvres), October 12; will follow a group of Aveyronnais on October 24.

Furthermore, René Tomczak received this summer, on the advice of the current duke, Louis Decazes, the director of the museum (), Caroline Fillon, with one of her collaborators, Sarah Dresch, who are preparing an exhibition on Elie Decazes, the “original” duke and founder, whose opening will take place on October 11.

“They wanted to immerse themselves in the places and the history. During their short stay, I introduced them to President Jean-Pierre Vaur with whom we had lunch at the foot of Puy de Wolf, in Firmi, the site of the beginning of the “exciting industrial adventure in the Basin”, reports René.

Then, they visited the ASPIBD, met Jean Rudelle and Jean-Paul Desprat at the Château de Gironde. The next day, there was a visit to the Cransac museum, a meeting with Magali Soubiroux; the guided tour of the work of Gustave Moreau in the Notre-Dame church by the hostess of the office Laetitia; a visit to Decazeville town hall including a meeting with François Marty and Alain Alonso; a visit to the Cabrol mausoleum and the Discovery site.

Until the end of October, the exhibition on the painter Jean Ségalat continues at the ASPIBD museum (1st floor), Center zone in Decazeville, on Wednesday and Friday afternoons.
