“I need to feel, to soak up vibrations”: Agnès Charve, painter of gentleness and emotion, exhibits in Saint-Girons

the essential
Inspired by nature, Agnès Charve, painter, shares her quest for beauty and softness at the House of Citizenship until October 14.

“I continue my journey in search of beauty. How do I transmit it? How do I transmit emotion to everyone through my work?” This quest fueled by questions led the artist Agnès Charve to the Maison de la Citoyenneté where the fruit of this almost mystical journey can still be seen until October 14.

The opening, last Friday evening in the presence of a large audience, honored with musical accompaniment by Jean-Paul Raffit and Olivier Capel, was the opportunity to meet her on this life path which fuels her art, or vice versa.

Zen serenity

Very inspired by Japan, Chinese painting, her painting exudes a zen and serene side which she claims: “I want to highlight softness and transmit emotion, to show beauty. This softness and this suspended time , oh so precious for all of us and our humanity, notions which are sorely lacking in the daily life of our world”.

And open the horizons, eyes wide open on “these infinite spaces” that her paintings suggest, on these flowers which she captures and transmits “like a naturalist, with delicate and powerful accuracy”. As if to light her path, this quest, despite the vicissitudes that grab us, her work as a painter guides her: “I have my line of beauty, I play a lot with working on light”.

Nature as a common thread

Nature with a capital N remains the common thread of this link between his art, his work, the muse of this quest shared with all. “I work from nature, always outside, rarely in the studio with branches or flowers. I rarely work from photos. I need to feel, to be inspired by reality, to imbue with vibrations.

To then deliver a work as refined as possible, generally on uncoated linen canvas, raw textile with this warm side which makes them more alive, sanded reclaimed wood, handmade paper that she sews, as if to return to the essential and better “to give us a feeling, a perception of the beauty and softness that surround us, carry us, perpetuate us”.

Agnès Charve, exhibition, on view until October 14 at the Maison de la Citoyenneté during opening hours. Presence of the artist on Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
