Fun Festival: An unforgettable opening night bringing together legends of North African music

Casablanca – The curtain was raised, Thursday evening at the Casablanca Vélodrome, on the 1st edition of the Fun Festival, featuring legends of Arab and North African music, Nass El Ghiwane and the king of raï Cheb Khaled.

For this first evening of the festival, which continues until October 5, the public was taken on a unique musical journey, carried by two icons: the emblematic group Nass El Ghiwane and the king of raï Cheb Khaled.

The evening began with the group Nass El Ghiwane, who captivated the audience with their iconic songs, such as “Fin Ghadi Bya Khouya” and “Ya Ahle Alhale”. His music, marked by poetic and committed lyrics, aroused a palpable nostalgia in spectators, recalling the deep heritage of North African music.

Then, the stage saw the arrival of Cheb Khaled, greeted by an enthusiastic ovation. For almost two hours, he played hits from his repertoire, from “Aïcha” to “C’est la vie”, transporting the crowd in a wave of festive energy. The singer’s powerful voice and intoxicating rhythms electrified the atmosphere, making a captivated audience dance and sing, and reaffirming his status as an international icon.

The public reaction was exceptional. From the first notes, waves of enthusiasm ran through the crowd, who responded to the call of the artists with boundless energy. Thousands of spectators got up to dance and sing in chorus, recreating a true communion with the artists.

The festival atmosphere was one of joy and celebration, with crowds gathered to savor every moment. The fusion of genres, between the raï of Cheb Khaled and the committed sounds of Nass El Ghiwane, made it possible to pay tribute to the diversity and cultural richness of the region. It was an evening where music, a vector of unity, resonated in the hearts and minds of the spectators, who came to celebrate this exceptional heritage together.

In a statement to the press backstage, the artist Omar Sayed, one of the founders of the phenomenon group Nass El Ghiwane, said he was delighted to find the Casablanca public for such an occasion combining music and social commitment.

For his part, Cheb Khaled said he was amazed by the Moroccan public who responded en masse for this first evening, congratulating the organizers on the quality of this festival, which is also socially engaged.

Furthermore, Aziz Kadiri, director of the festival, maintained that the DNA of Fun Festival is based on a strong social commitment, with the mission of sponsoring associations working for noble and humanitarian causes each year, indicating that this also symbolizes the will of the Festival to invest in important social causes, using culture as a vector of solidarity, and to combine celebration and sharing, entertainment and altruism.

Organized until October 5 under the sign of sharing and social commitment, this artistic event brings together renowned artists for exceptional performances, while supporting a noble cause, in partnership with SOS Children’s Village.

Initiated by Fun Production, under the theme “Listen to a sound by making a donation”, part of the festival’s proceeds will be donated to the SOS Villages d’Enfants Maroc association, an association working for children without families. This gesture of solidarity reinforces the spirit of sharing and generosity which is at the heart of the event, since by participating in the Fun Festival, spectators contribute directly to this noble cause.

On the program for this event, an evening dedicated to humor with stand-up stars: Booder, Yassar, Djamil Le Shlag, Younes Depardieu and Nounours (October 4). And an oriental evening with the superstars of Arabic song Ahmed Saad and Hatim Ammor (October 5).
