They fell in love with “this haven of peace” two years ago, in Tinchebray. (Orne). A green for Arold and Miki Jandia, a French-Japanese couple coming from the Paris region. The start of a new life in a daily life already filled withadventures. “We never said to ourselves that something was impossible. » TV presenter, cabin manager for Air France, deputy mayor, baker, cooking teacher… So many hats occupied by the 55-year-old man who tells his story to The fighting Orne/actu.fr, in this beginning of October 2024.
Cabin manager, he becomes a baker
“I have always been keen cooking, and one day in 2019, I suggested to my wife that we start our business. » I immediately left, “because I knew it was his dream», Miki joins the challenge. Then flight attendant for Air France, municipal councilor and deputy mayor of Pré-Saint-Gervais, Arold obtained availability and returned at school.
I completed a bakery qualification at Ferrandi in Paris, which for me is the Harvard of gastronomy.
A few months before obtaining his diplomathe couple gets married, and Miki immediately learns that she is pregnant. “Everything came together,” says the one who was already daddy three timesfrom a previous union. Their house sold, the two lovers have no doubts about their new place of life: the Ornais bocage.
“During my studies at Caen I had done internships in Orne. I immediately thought of this place to help our son grow up,” says Arold. Among a series of ten real estate visits, the house Tinchebray’s “in its own juice, 60s style” caught the couple’s attention.
A bakery in Tokyo with the 80s playlist
“We spent the summer of 2020 in the house, and then we left, with Yamato under our arms. » The two lovers and their babyare flying towards Tokyo, which has just reopened its borders after the health crisis. It is in the Japanese capital, where Miki’s parents live, that they take on the challenge of opening their “French-style bakery”.
We faced a lot of refusals to find our premises, and then our Maison Jandia-Saïto opened in a residential area. The bakery has brought life back to an old shopping street.
With the words “Amour de France” under the sign, the promise is as tempting as the products . In the laboratory open to the shop, Arold makes bread, pastries, cakes “and some Caribbean specialties” in self-service…
Miki manages the sales and snacking areas. All in music: “the French playlist of 80swas going around in a loop.” With the Japanese, success was immediate, but the couple followed a frantic pace.
“We worked from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m., we no longer had a life. We realized that it wasn’t what we wanted, because we didn’t see our child grow . » Having the comfort of “not having any credit on their back”, Arold and Miki decide to close and resell their bakery nine months later its opening. “It was a great adventure. »
A flight schedule in the four corners of the world
Left empty during their Japanese stay, Tinchebray’s house finds its owners beginning of 2022. At the end of his parental education leave, Arold puts on his costume cabin managerwith Air France, each time departing from Paris.
Per month, I make three air rotations, that is to say the outward journey, the stopover and the return. On long-haul flights, I often manage the economy part of the plane with 300 passengers, and five or six staff members.
In September, the Martinican went to New York in North Carolina and… in Tokyo. “It’s a flight that I request every month, because I always have acquaintances there, and it’s a city that I really like. » A job made of travels to the four corners of the world, where Arold’s face may seem familiar…
He puts himself on stage and makes parodies on television
Tinchebrayen’s career did not begin in the air, but on television. “I was an actor and TV presenter,” smiles the man, sharing a few excerpts from the period. “At the start I made law studiesbecause I wanted to be super flicand I quickly got bored so I continued to the West Indies. »
I could no longer study in the sun, so I started castings and played small roles in films or commercials.
Conquered by this new universe, Arold joined New York to take lessonsin the 90s. “Back in Martinique, I co-presented the show Ouf, broadcast on Wednesdays for children. We parodied songs there,” continues the man who has never been afraid of to put oneself on stage .
Julie Lescaut, PJ… First in Martinique, then in France, Arold continues the series under the status of intermittent showman. “And then I had a big disappointment: I had been selected to play the role of a clown in a new concept of broadcast, and that did not happen. Afterwards, I wanted to move on. »
Admitted to the Government, he chose Air France
In 2001, Arold was accepted into two competitions: the first, to join the Ministry of Finance, “I was even a winner”, and the second, the Air France company. “First hired as stewardI told myself that there would be trips in perspective. For 23 years, it has been a atypical job which I love. »
Obviously, these are sacrifices because I’m not always there for Christmas, back to school, birthdays… But there are so many good sides.
It is also during a flight returning from Tokyoin 2016, that the cabin manager meets Miki, aged 36. “It was obvious. » The following year, while he was in office, the man asked for the hand of his future wife on a plane. “She left everything to come and live In France with me. »
French cooking classes by video
“We never set limits for ourselves. » Now, the couple is thinking of launching a new activity, still in Tokyo. “It’s tempting to go back and do it again a mouth businessbut certainly not a bakery. » However, there is no question of abandoning Air France, which would remain the main activity d’Arold.
Now that he is a little older, we would like Yamato to learn Japanese culture by enrolling him in the French school in Tokyo.
For their new projectthe Franco-Japanese couple gives themselves two years, “time to raise the necessary investment”. Tuesday 1is October, they launched an activity to contribute to their kitty: cooking classesby video from Tinchebray, where Arold cooks, and Miki translates into Japanese.
“Around fifteen of our former Japanese clients have already paid for ten courses where we will teach them how to French recipes. We love sharing our passion for cooking so much. »
A new success in sight for the family who found happiness in the bocage. “If we go back to Tokyo, we will keep our house here for the holidays. We are really good there. »
