All the immense diversity of Mediterranean cinema at the Cinemed Festival

04/10/2024 – The 46th edition of the festival will take place in from October 18 to 26, with 200 titles on display including nine fiction features targeting the Golden Antigone

from French Frederic Farruccithese are two films recently appreciated in Venice, which will open and close the 46th Montpellier Mediterranean Cinema Festival (from October 18 to 26). As usual, Cinemed (which attracted 62,000 spectators last year) will deploy a very copious program of around 200 titles illustrating all the diversity and dynamism of the 7th art throughout the Mediterranean basin. All including tributes in their presence to the Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher (in 13 films), to the French actor and now director Reda Kateb (in 12 films including his first feature film On a thread) and the Spanish director Rodrigo Sorogoyen (in six films and one series episode).

All without forgetting, among other things, a zoom on “the audacity of young Moroccan cinema”, a retrospective Luigi Comencini in 23 films, special screenings (including the documentary series The century of Costa Gavras of Yannick Kergoat), a competition and a panorama of short films, a masterclass of Nicolas Seydoux (Gaumont), screenings for young audiences, a “night in hell” (in five films) and from October 22 to 24 the professional days of the Cinemed Meetings, which Cineuropa will return to in detail later.
