As content producer and showrunner Mathew McKinnon explains: “Manon was one of our favorite candidates, and we knew her impact would be immense. From the moment she arrived in the house, it was obvious that she was going to turn heads. Manon is an extraordinary woman, both gentle, beautiful and of rare elegance! It’s not easy to bring in the first new candidate after the others have had time to socialize for almost 24 hours.” Manon, however, blended into the group with disconcerting ease. “Maurice asked me the question when I arrived: “How do you feel among people who have already met?” In my head, I told myself that in 24 hours, I could make up for it quickly! I wasn’t nervous or uncomfortable!” she confides.

Manon, 53, a passionate hairdresser practicing at the Espace Urbain salon in Saint-Bruno, never thought she would one day participate in a reality TV show. “While I was having lunch at work, an advert caught my attention on social media. Driven by an inexplicable impulse, I decided to fill out the membership form. Two hours later, production called me. I was very surprised! I am a very discreet woman. I have my own life and I protect my privacy. Taking part in a reality show is not something that suits me! I have a 25-year-old son, but it was Camille, my 27-year-old daughter, who accompanied me on the adventure. I think she was very surprised by my registration. She praised my boldness, because she is really eager for me to find a man who suits me. Camille is also discreet. I think she agreed to participate for me!”

When Manon is asked what so suddenly pushed her to register, she mentions a personal challenge. “I was tired of dating networks. When you’ve been single for a while, you end up shopping around. It’s exhausting having to filter men and organize outings. I needed a new way to meet people and get out of my routine!” Does she think that seduction is more complicated in your 50s than in your 20s? “Not at all, because today I know myself very well. I don’t want to play. I will never embark on something that does not suit me. It makes seduction much more interesting!”

A future grandmother

“When Camille and I decided to embark on the adventure, we didn’t expect that she would get pregnant along the way,” says Manon. She came with me and I am very grateful to her! It wasn’t easy for her. Being early in her pregnancy, she slept poorly and had nausea. It was not an ideal context.”

Manon left the adventure after 24 hours. Some might think that the insecurity she generated among some candidates influenced her decision, but that was not the case. “Yes, I felt like I was bothering the girls a little. I talk about it with Isabelle in a segment, but that’s not why I gave up. It was Camille who needed me. She had lost blood during the day, and production decided to take her to the hospital. That’s why she wasn’t in the monitoring room with the other children. When I learned that she was in the hospital, I knew that the adventure was over for me. Being by his side was my priority. Continuing was unthinkable. Would I have liked to live the adventure until the end? Yes, absolutely!” Fortunately, both mother and baby are doing well. A little boy is expected on January 1st, and the future grandmother is over the moon.

Despite her brief passage, Manon has forged lasting bonds: “I saw Chantal and Isabelle again and I spoke on the phone with Judith yesterday. We love each other with true love! Chantal even wants us to go on vacation together. Even though I only spent 24 hours in the house, I developed great friendships, whereas on TV, you would think there was rivalry!”
