After Orphan (2011) et 180 degrees: Turn of a lifetime (2015), Marie-Claude Savard completes her trilogy of autobiographical stories with Timeless. “It’s my life guide for people’s happiness. Timeless is the idea of taking a break, of analyzing the time behind us, the time we have and the time we have left. What longevity can we expect? How will we age? We do it differently today, with aesthetic medicine and all the advances in medicine. I was always the girl who tried everything. I tried all the therapies. People wrote to me on Messenger to ask for advice on all kinds of matters: fertility, because I had children at an older age, aesthetic medicine, bereavement… At one point, I said to myself: ‘Why not make a collection, and launch this idea that maybe we should all take a break and evaluate what we want in life?'” In Intemporelle, she talks about her wounds her childhood, but also the fact that she left the past behind to concentrate on something else. “It’s the book I would have dreamed of reading in my moments of torment.”

At the end of this guide full of tools, Marie-Claude took care to leave blank pages, where readers can take notes. “I would like people to write to me afterwards to tell me about the experiences they have had, and that we continue to journey together.”

Boxing in its journey

While she was writing Intemporelle, the author and host dove into the heart of the tragic destiny of a famous Quebec boxing family, to create the three-episode documentary series Be a Hilton. “Boxing is a main player in the book. I discovered myself a lot in this sport. I don’t think I would have chosen self-publishing if I hadn’t had the Hilton experience. It’s a mega-documentary for which I embedded myself in a family of boxers. They saw me, analyzed me. I learned a lot from them. Now, I think I’m a little more of a go-getter thanks to this experience.”

Given her background as a sports journalist, the host knew Alex, Dave and Matthew Hilton. For the series, she reached out to Alex, who hadn’t done an interview in 20 years. “He was very closed, but, through hard work, I managed to enter his family… I learned that there was a lot of love there and that one should not trust appearances », says the one who had the opportunity to enter the ring for the first time, as part of this series. “It’s a story that we tried to tell from the inside. The best way to do it was by boxing, because he (Alex) confided when he was training me for boxing. She still practices this sport, which she loves. Through the series, Marie-Claude wants people to see that it is possible to rehabilitate and rebuild themselves. “Alex Hilton has been sober for 13 years. He’s an amazing guy who deserves another chance at life, and I think that’s important that we realize that. It’s not because your brothers have done things that you are necessarily linked to their fate and their destiny.”

A successful separation

Marie-Claude does not go out of her way to tell us that she is no longer with TV producer Jean-Martin Bisson, the father of her children, Charlotte (eight years old) and Henri (six years old). They had been a couple since 2011. “We have been separated for two years, but we remain the best friends in the world. We are parents and we are proud of it. We chose friendship, we decided to iron out differences to maintain the strong family bond. This photo (it refers to the one taken at the book launch) is a good example. It works well. There, I am more into entrepreneurship and new projects, but I am not closing the door to love.”

The book Timeless is available in bookstores and on digital platforms. Marie-Claude Savard can be heard on It goes to the postweekdays from 3 p.m., at Énergie.
