This unusual discovery quickly made Internet users react, while several of them spotted the place of sale filmed by the author of the video.

« It’s the States’ market! », spot Internet users, and indeed, it is at the United States market, in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon, that this Algerian from France discovers, on a second-hand clothes stall, the sweater which makes up the firefighters’ outfit in Algeria.

He states: “ An Algerian Civil Protection top is on sale here in Lyon “. And when he asks what price it sells for, the merchant replies: “ 1 € ”, which implausibly makes him laugh.

And to remove any doubt as to the location of this market, it will zoom in further on the Auchan brand, a supermarket which adjoins the United States market.

In less than 24 hours, the clip shared on TikTok has been viewed nearly half a million times, and more than 1,100 Internet users have left their impressions in the comments section.

Contrasted reactions between indignation and amusement

Most Internet users largely disapprove of the TikToker’s reaction. He is criticized in particular for having so easily turned away from a garment symbolic of the identity of the honor of the Algerian Civil Protection, especially since the said garment displays the Algerian flag.

« If I had been there, I would have taken it, if only out of respect for the flag of the homeland », « Why didn’t you buy it? Is €1 too much for you? », « You should buy it. 1 € is symbolic ”, we read among the interventions.

Other commentators trivialize the matter and indicate that other uniforms, non-Algerian, are on sale in flea markets and fairs: “ There are also complete French army outfits in markets and flea markets. There are even hats and caps ».

Another Internet user goes even further and instead captures the unusual side of these markets where you can find everything. He recounts a personal experience: “ I remember finding a 20 dinar coin (€0.08). The seller offered it to me for €2, or almost 500 dinars! ».
