The French odyssey of Daryl Dixon

The first sequences of the spin-off first take us to the United States, in an apocalyptic world devastated by a virus transforming humans into zombies – the famous prowlers. Some time after leaving his family, Daryl (Norman Reedus) finds himself in a new camp of survivors. After a fight with a camp worker, our hero is imprisoned and then transported on a cargo boat. On the open sea, Daryl tries to escape using the lifeboats. Encountering a new type of zombie that is even more lively and dangerous, the survivor jumps overboard. He will eventually wash up on a French beach, where he will lose consciousness.

When Daryl wakes up, he finds himself in an abbey. He then meets young Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzz), an orphan considered the messiah by the sisters of the abbey – he even predicted the imminent arrival of Daryl. Fearing for the safety of the young prodigy, the mission that is emerging for our hero is clear: accompanied by Sister Isabelle (Clémence Poésy), he will have to escort Laurent to , where he will – a priori – be safe. Engaged in a real journey through the French countryside, the trio meets and confronts zombies infected by a new variant. More aggressive and fast, burners – not to be confused with prowlers – have acidic skin and blood.

Trying by all means to take a boat to return to the United States, Daryl decides to leave on his own, to the great dismay of the nun Isabelle, who deplores this abandonment. On Omaha beach in , Daryl prepares to set sail. Everything changes when the warrior sees Laurent, who has followed him in secret. While we see the young messiah surrounded by zombies, Daryl hesitates and remains frozen…

Just before the end of the sixth and final episode of the first season, we find Carol (Melissa McBride), an emblematic character from the original series. The Walking Dead. In Maine, Carol is chasing a man riding Daryl’s motorcycle. After neutralizing him, she gets back on the motorbike and sets off in search of Daryl, who is – probably – still stranded on the Normandy beach.
