After cowboy boots and biker boots, here is the new back-to-school trend

The best jams are made in old pots, right? An adage particularly popular with fashion, which continues to recycle old trends. This fall, the draft choice fell on a pair of shoes that had not been on the pavement for a long time – a decade, at least – before making a timid return to the catwalks. It is about
fringed bootsstar shoes from the early 2000s.

Remember, at the time, they were worn by a slew of stars, from Lindsay Lohan to Claudia Schiffer, including Nicole Richie. Obviously, it would be indecent to talk about this trend without mentioning the popularity of fringed boots, we want to talk about Kate Moss who wore them casually, with mini-shorts, a bohemian dress or slim pants.

Kate Moss, figurehead of fringed boots

In high, low version, in black or brown colors, the top model has made these boots a real essential of the second millennium. It must be said that Miss Moss had a fashion legitimacy at the time that was beyond belief, and that validation on her part would ensure the assured success of the accessory in question. No wonder, then, that fringes were so popular!

Popular, of course, fringed boots will not forever succeed in fading the boredom of fashionistas, who end up abandoning them after 2010. Remaining in the shadows since, they are returning with great fanfare – no pun intended – for 2024, after being spotted in several fall-winter shows last year.

Fringed boots invade the fashion shows

Saks Potts unearths a heeled version, just like
Isabel Marant a few weeks later. During the Cruise 2025 fashion show, Louis Vuitton destabilized the fashion sphere by offering a pair of boots lined with fringes on the top of the foot, strangely resembling two chic mop brooms.

One thing is certain, fringed boots are finding their way back into wardrobes, to the delight of fashionistas who praise their style and comfort. Far from being refined, these shoes easily add character to the outfit and their slipper effect makes them ideal for wandering around without damaging your feet.
