He admits to having killed his mother live on camera: “I couldn’t take it anymore”

On Monday, while journalists were covering this suspicious death, they came across Lorenzo Carbone (50 years old). Loretta’s son returns home.

While a “Pomeriggio 5” camera is filming, he decides to confess. In tears, the son explains his act: “I strangled her. I couldn’t take it anymore, I couldn’t take it anymore. I don’t know why I did it…”.

His mother suffered from dementia. In the wake of the live confession, journalists notified the police.

Ethics respected?

In Italy, this live broadcast of Lorenzo Carbone’s confessions is controversial. Should this “exclusive” interview be broadcast live? Was the journalistic code of ethics respected?

For Gaia Tortora, deputy director of the TG La7 channel, this should not be broadcast. “What happened is very serious. The code of ethics was violated. We are hitting rock bottom!” Other journalists questioned do not see what this interview brings.

Myrta Merlino, the presenter of Pomeriggio 5, defended herself: “I had little time to decide and I only cared about one thing: that it did not harm the investigation. I immediately called the police. They allowed me to release the images.”
