Revolution: A participant withdraws from the competition and a duo is eliminated

After receiving the three votes needed to advance to the next round, contemporary dancer Kyra Jean Green opted out of the all-star season of “Revolution” on Sunday night.

The 39-year-old artist had completely captivated the masters by appearing on the circular stage 25 weeks pregnant.

“When we were doing rehearsals, I felt tired. I started to have little spasms in my back,” the dancer confided to Sarah-Jeanne Labrosse while the masters were deliberating at the end of the episode.

“I’ve done my part. But now it’s another stage of my life that begins. My priority is really my health and that of my baby,” she added.

His withdrawal allowed Zachary, sent to the deliberation following a loss of balance of a fraction of a second, as well as the new trio formed by Gabrielle (big winner of season 5), Jordan and Santiago, who lacked fluidity in certain respects, to be saved in extremis from elimination.

The axe fell, however, on the Afro duo Diffo, who presented a number that was a little more serious than in their last appearances on the show.

“We had just shown the humor card at “Revolution”. It’s as if there was only one side of us that was known. This year we came in with a more serious side, especially with the number we presented in the first round, where we were less into jokes and smiles than usual,” said Amanda Kacou during an interview with the QMI Agency.

“It was definitely a risk to play a different card than the Diffo they knew. But we wanted to show something else from the start and then maybe get back into our slippers,” continued Francis Gagné, confident that Team White, a consultant on the show, had told them of their reservations about this number.

“We tried something new… Well… It ended the way it was supposed to end, but we’re very proud of ourselves and we worked very hard,” Amanda added.

“It’s certainly a shame to be ‘out’ after having made all these efforts. We’re not in the minds of the masters… We gave what we had to give and that’s it. And that doesn’t mean that if we had played the humor card we would have passed,” his partner put into perspective.

Diffo’s elimination in the first round, however, allowed the duo to take part in a major Afro dance competition in Spain, where they reached the finals.

“It’s really a great experience that we wouldn’t have been able to have if we had continued the adventure at “Revolution,” confided Amanda, grateful to have been able to return to the show for the season and who said she was completely at peace with the masters’ decision.

The duo are currently preparing for another televised competition, this time in English Canada.

“Revolution” is broadcast on Sunday evenings at 7:30 p.m. on TVA and can be seen at any time on TVA+.

Breathtaking performance

This second week of selections was particularly full of emotions on Sunday evening. Veterans Rahmane Belkebiche and Sunny Boisvert made a remarkable entrance at the beginning of the program. The two street dance artists won their bet to perform as a duo hands down.

The return of the Bégin Sisters and Break City All-Stars was hailed by the masters, as was that of salsa dancers Adriano and Samantha, “the ninjas of salsa,” according to Jean-Marc Généreux.
