Lausanne: a new theatre named after Pierre Naftule will see the light of day

Lausanne is getting a new 450-seat theatre entirely dedicated to humour and improvisation. The Pavillon Naftule will be set up for three months, from November to February, on Place Bellerive, not far from the lake.

A figure of Romand humor, Pierre Naftule died in 2022 at the age of 61. He is notably responsible for the creation with Joseph Gorgoni of the character of Marie-Thérèse Porchet. “The Pavilion borrows its name but also its great principles: quality as the only programming criterion; welcoming the public and the comfort of the artists as priorities”, we can read in a press release from Jokers Comedy.

A 1200 m² soundproofed and heated structure, the Naftule Pavilion will have a large 450-seat hall and a 200-seat foyer and will host more than 130 performances, with new shows and projects.

While the Terreaux Cultural Centre is currently undergoing renovations for a year, it is therefore in Bellerive that “La revue de Lausanne” will be performed from November 13th — this year’s theme is the French-speaking press. Also on the program: “Happy New Year?”, an exclusive show by Thomas Wiesel, “Pain Suprise” by Blaise Bersinger, “Je vais bien, mais le monde va mal”, the first show by Benjamin Décosterd, and “Madame Helvetia” by Nathalie Devantay. But also shows by Nathanaël Rochat, Julie Conti, the 30-year career of Marie-Thérèse Porchet, as well as performances for young audiences every Wednesday afternoon.

Finally, note that a friendly catering offer will be proposed with fondues, platters and other local products. The full program on naftule.ch.
