Saint-Céré. The Effilochés float causes a sensation

It was a grand return for the Effilochés association at the Saint-Céré festival on Sunday afternoon: “We strolled through the streets in ‘steampunk’ mode from 3pm to 5pm at the Saint-Céré cavalcade, with fourteen artists,” explains Annabelle Bonhomme, director of the Les Effilochés association.

Dressed in black, red and gold, metallic objects and decorations, excessively made up, deploying energy and emotions, they clearly wanted to make the city tremble with their technical and aesthetic prowess. “There were several circus professions gathered on the Effilochés float: stilt walkers, jugglers, acrobats, actors”, all participating in a sort of permanent movement that contradicted the direction of the float itself.

And in particular, there was an aerial artist on the float who performed figures upside down in a giant metal circle, while a drummer kept time to these strange improvisations, all enhanced with smoke bombs, flying confetti, etc. In total, a convoy more than 15 meters long, made of odds and ends, but also works by Louis de Verdal, including a monumental metal face overlooking the stunned audience.

This proposal is a brand new performance by Effilochés created especially for the Saint-Céré festival, an unmissable highlight of the year organized by the town hall. Faced with the many applause and smiles, the circus team wants to remain modest: “Our performance seems to have been very popular with the population.” An experience to repeat?
