An investigation was opened in on Thursday, September 19, after rapper Gims and his partner filed a complaint against another music figure, Booba. They accuse him of moral harassment and cyberbullying for six years.

After the former queen of influencers Magali Berdah, rapper Booba is once again facing accusations of harassment, this time brought by singer Gims and his wife Demdem. At the end of August, the couple filed a complaint for moral harassment and cyberbullying, a case that triggered the opening of an investigation this Thursday, September 19, entrusted to the Brigade for the Repression of Crime against Persons (BRDP), as confirmed by the Paris prosecutor’s office.

“A media nightmare”

Gims, whose real name is Gandhi Bilel Djuna, and Demdem claim that Booba, nicknamed the “Duke of Boulogne”, has been attacking them for six years. According to the complaint, relayed by AFP, Booba’s repeated attacks, amplified by his millions of fans on social networks, have led to massive online harassment. Among the facts alleged, mockery targeting Gims’ physique, as well as several insults and degrading remarks against his wife.

The posts include photos of Gims without his famous sunglasses as well as a song by Booba, Dolce Camara, in which he directly targets Demdem, accusing her of being a “michto” (woman interested in money).

For the plaintiffs, Booba’s “actions” are “intended to be reproduced on a large scale by the millions of people who currently follow him on social networks”. They denounce “a media nightmare” that would have an impact on their daily lives and their income, in particular a deterioration in the public image of Gims and Demdem, who would have suffered a significant drop in their income. In response, Booba is worried about “free artistic expression”, his lawyers told AFP
