In Sion, the Ancienne Chancellerie is hosting two exhibitions that contemporary artists Lang/Baumann and Raphael Stucky have designed while working with the recently renovated building, and whose inauguration is scheduled for this Saturday. On view until March 30, 2025.

Huge inflatable balloons made of transparent plastic or oversized coloured modules: on the first three floors, the Bernese artist duo Sabina Lang and Daniel Baumann play with the spaces and boundaries of the site which was transformed into a prison at the beginning of the 19th century.

For his part, Raphael Stucky, winner of the Prix Culturel Manor 2024 Valais, has invested the basement with the Troposonic project. The Valaisan artist was inspired by the historical past of the prison building and its geographical proximity to the Basilica of Valère.

The renovation of the Old Chancellery is part of the project for the Sion Hills Museum and Cultural Center, which should be completed by 2030. The official inauguration of this stage will take place all day Saturday.
