90 shows for the 38th edition of Coup de cœur francophone in November

In the heart of Montreal’s first big cold spells of November, the 38th edition of the Coup de cœur francophone festival will captivate with its energy and warmth.

From November 7 to 17, 90 shows sprinkled across 15 venues in the city will bring French-language music to life in all its diversity. For ten days, familiar voices returning to liven up Montreal stages will mingle with discoveries from the new guard, album launches and a breath of fresh air from Acadia to diversify the already abundant offering.

Behind the rich sound mosaic that is about to take the city by storm, we find Noémie Laniel, at the helm of her very first program that promises to offer a panoramic vision reflecting the excitement of the current scene.

The festival will open with a very wide range of acts. Quebec rap fans will be well served with LOST, who will take advantage of the festival to launch his album Hanged Man 4 surrounded by hand-picked collaborators. Another highlight: the return of Acadian Édith Butler, who will be passing through Montreal after a long absence from the local scene.

The Boulay sisters, in an intimate duo format, promise a very gentle evening, with Belle Grand Fille as the opening act. Michel Rivard will treat us to his new show, New songs and other confidencesa simple evening hosted by Verre Bouteille.

New things in the spotlight

A French-speaking favorite, it is also an opportunity to listen to the emerging talents who are shaping the current scene. The festival gives pride of place to this new guard, with the presence of diverse sounds ranging from the rhythms of Delphine and De Flore to the heterogeneous projects of Miro Chino and TDH, via the feminist force of Le Belladone.

Artists will take advantage of the excitement of this great musical celebration to launch a new album. We are thinking in particular of zouz, accompanied by La Sécurité and René Lussier at Club Soda, or Brown Family, Nicolet, Gabriella Olivo, Jonquille, BéLi and Loïc Lafrance, among others.

Looking elsewhere

This edition is resolutely international, with no fewer than 14 artists from , Switzerland and Belgium. Artists from Wallonia-Brussels will be in the spotlight during two special evenings, on November 13 at the Ministry and on November 15 at Club Soda.

Rooted in the Canadian Francophonie, this year the fall event is putting the spotlight on artists from Acadia. Caroline Savoie, Jacques Surette and Écarlate are among those who will proudly represent their corner of the country.

Finally, thanks to its pan-Canadian network, Coup de cœur francophone will leave Montreal, stopping in more than 45 cities across the country. Émile Bilodeau, Beauséjour, Maten and Medhi will be on the trip, bringing with them the essence of the Montreal festival.

The 38th Coup de cœur francophone festival will take place from November 7 to 17, 2024. All the details can be found online at coupdecoeur.ca (New window)
