Jean-Vincent Placé indicted for sexual assault in South Korea

The former Green Secretary of State is facing new accusations of sexual assault, this time in South Korea, as part of an investigation opened in Paris in March 2022. He was already being prosecuted for similar acts against a former collaborator.

Former Green Secretary of State Jean-Vincent Placé was indicted on Friday, September 6, for sexual assault on a woman in South Korea, according to the judicial investigation targeting him in Paris since March 2022. Already prosecuted for sexual violence, Jean-Vincent Placé, 56, is suspected of having sexually assaulted another woman during the first quarter of 2017, in Seoul, South Korea.

A previous indictment in 2021

An indictment that comes in addition to a first case in which Jean-Vincent Placé is already being prosecuted for sexual assault and sexual harassment against a former collaborator. This woman, who had followed him from the Senate to the Secretary of State for Reform and Simplification, had filed a complaint in November 2021. She accused the former Green elected official of sexual harassment between 2012 and 2016. Her complaint also mentioned facts that could be considered sexual assault.

In her account of the events, she recounted how the politician had “touched her buttocks” in August 2015 in a nightclub in Lille, on the fringes of the Europe Écologie Les Verts (EELV) summer gathering.
