Kate Middleton announces end of cancer treatment

Kate Middleton has confirmed she has completed cancer treatment, nearly six months after revealing on March 22 that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing preventative chemotherapy.

In a video message posted online on September 9 (24), the Princess of Wales opened up about her “complex” journey with the disease.

“As summer draws to a close, it’s hard for me to tell you how relieved I am to finally be done with chemotherapy,” she began. “The last nine months have been incredibly difficult for our family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we’ve had to find a way to navigate the rough waters and unfamiliar roads.”

The video also shows the Princess of Wales’ husband, Prince William, and their three children, George, 11, Charlotte, nine, and Louis, six.

“The cancer experience is complex, frightening and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” the 42-year-old princess continued. “With humility, it confronts you with your own vulnerabilities in a way you’ve never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”

This battle against cancer seems to have made him “meditate” on life.

“This time has been a big reminder for William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple but important things in life that so many of us often take for granted,” she posted. “It’s simply about loving and being loved.”

Moving forward, Kate Middleton plans to focus on her fight against cancer and continue to “take each day as it comes.”

“I am, however, looking forward to returning to work and undertaking some additional public engagements in the coming months, when I am able,” she said. “Despite all that has happened before, I am approaching this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation for life.”

The princess concluded the video by saying she and her husband were “grateful” for the support they had received over the past six months.
