Beyond the debates around the cauldron and the rings, the capital and its monuments have gained visibility.

Ceremonies magnified by dancers, singers and DJs, a heritage highlighted like never before – in front of billions of viewers -, iconic images and the feeling of having ” successful “ to prove that France was still in the race: the legacy of the Paris 2024 Games will not only be sporting.

“Rome, the host city of the Games in 1960, had already organised part of the events in its city centre, using in particular the Arch of Constantine and the Baths of Caracalla”recalled sports historians Sandrine Lemaire and Stéphane Mourlane, during a conference on the legacy of the Games, organized at the American Business School of Paris, on Friday evening. “But the media coverage was out of this world at the time, and the ceremonies were not spectacles in themselves.”
