To mark the 20th anniversary of the Millau Viaduct, the Compagnie Eiffage du Viaduc de Millau (CEVM) is organising numerous festivities, including a photo competition showcasing this architectural masterpiece.

Participants were invited to submit a single photo on one of the proposed themes: the viaduct in Millau, architecture or lights. The competition, open from July 15 to August 11, will result in an exhibition of the selected photos, which will be held from September 3 to 22 on the Quai Sully Chaliès. The results of the competition were announced on August 19.

Among the winners, the photography of Patrice Mancinoa resident of Saint-Rome-de-Tarn, was selected. During a meeting at his home on Tuesday, August 27, the photographer, who is passionate about the Millau Viaduct, shared his enthusiasm for this emblematic monument. I am a fan of the viaduct, which in my eyes represents one of the modern architectural successes. It has managed to win over the public despite initial criticism, a bit like the Louvre pyramid. The integration of the viaduct into the landscape is perfectly successful. ” he confided.

Patrice Mancino, as soon as the competition was announced, undertook a real photographic quest, spending three hours each evening on the site to capture the sunset and nightfall. His photo entitled “From the ship to the stars” reflects this meticulous research. With its stays, the viaduct awakens the imagination. I managed to align it with the constellation of the Big Dipper, a strong symbol in my eyes. All I had to do was adjust the shutter speed, sensitivity and exposure to complete my mini photographer’s project “, explained Patrice Mancino.

His photograph, which will be exhibited in September, invites visitors to rediscover the viaduct from a new angle, between earth and sky, thus reinforcing the appeal of this architectural icon.
