A strike fomented by the Daltons in the next Lucky Luke

In A cowboy under pressure, the new adventure of Lucky Luke drawn by Achdé with Jul on the script to be published on November 15, the “Poor lonesome cowboy” will have to ease tensions between Marxist unionists and industrial barons.

The next Lucky Luke album, due out November 15, will feature the cowboy struggling with a strike, to which the Dalton brothers are no strangers, the publisher announced Friday.

A cowboy under pressurepublished by Lucky Comics (Dargaud group), is a new adventure drawn by Achdé, with Jul on the script, the two authors who took over the character in 2003 and 2016 respectively.

The action takes place in New München, “small Dakota village founded by German settlers”and the center of a brewing region, Dargaud explains in his publication program. When a general strike stops beer production, “Lucky Luke is called to the rescue to ease tensions between Marxist trade unionists and industrial barons”according to the publisher. Of course, he will come across the shenanigans of the Daltons, drawn on the cover dressed in Bavarian leather breeches and hiding behind barrels.

Since the death of the Belgian cartoonist Morris in 2001, Achdé has taken up the character with extremely faithful graphics. Then, from 2016, in parallel with the classic series, it was adapted by four other authors, Matthieu Bonhomme (two albums), Guillaume Bouzard, Ralph König and Mawil (one album each). Last year, it was Blutch who took on a new revisited adventure with The Untamed featuring the cowboy in an unnatural role: that of nanny, when he comes across two children without their parents, including a trigger-happy little girl.
